The Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health aims to support the introduction, scale-up and further piloting of high quality and high impact interventions to improve Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) in Pakistan by harnessing the potential of both public and private sectors, coupled with introduction of women and girls empowerment intervention.
The Aga Khan Universitys Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health has cautiously designed a project Sihaat Mand Khandaan (SMK) in collaboration with The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) partners and relevant Provincial Health and Population Welfare Departments across Pakistan to bridge the gaps within the health service sector to foster greater health outcomes for women, children and adolescents. The project aims to improve the status of sexual and reproductive health of women and adolescents in three provinces and ten districts of Pakistan. The focus remains on empowering increasingly marginalized and vulnerable populations to exercise their reproductive rights, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. This will be achieved through the implementation of evidence-based and socio-culturally sensitive sexual and reproductive health interventions implemented at both community and facility levels.
