The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational units: Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Population & Reproductive Health, Environmental Health, and Non-communicable Diseases & Mental Health.
A research study SARS-CoV-2 in Pregnancy is being led and conducted by the at Main AKU Karachi, JPMC & Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore; to better understand how SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy impacts outcomes in women and their neonates during pregnancy and post-partum period. The clinical outcomes of enrolled women and their newborns will be followed up to 6 weeks after childbirth.
This is a short term contractual position based in Karachi (Main Campus & JPMC) & Lahore (Sir Ganga Ram Hospital)
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
assist in sample processing, aliquoting and storing samples required for project.
execute laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures, make observations and interpret findings.
conduct experiments under defined SOPs.
organize and store all reagents/supplies and kits.
record all data and results in specified forms.
maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
ensure that all safety guidelines are always followed strictly and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
to collaborate with Research Associate/Specialist for any project related activity.
any other task assigned by the Principal Investigator / Supervisor.
Requirements:
You should have:
a Bachelors' degree in Biological Sciences.
at least 1-2 years of relevant experience
knowledge of laboratory testing procedures
good written and verbal communication skills
flexibility of working in shifts
hands on experience of running molecular procedures and ELISA assays
