Aga Khan University (AKU), a private, self-governing international university chartered in Pakistan in 1983, is a role model for academic, research and service programmes in health and higher education in the developing world. The research is expected to identify gaps in hospital current post-surgical pain management practices, and preventable analgesic adverse events by determining, the incidence of analgesic-related adverse events, and factors associated with analgesic intolerance, in 254 eligible trauma fracture patients. The information generated from the proposed project is likely to elucidate safety issues with pain management by highlighting preventable patient harm, and support a proposal for an optimized pain management protocol to reduce adverse events.
This is a grant funded contractual position for a period of two years.
You will be responsible for:
providing assistance to the Principal Investigator in planning, managing and conducting the research project by determining theoretical aspects of the problem and selecting method of approach
recruitment of study subjects; collecting data from medical record files and patients in ward and clinics.
Patient outcomes assessment at follow-ups and calling patients (if required)
Performing data entry, and analysis
Independently write manuscripts and highlight potential areas of improvement in patient care
Independently write study progress reports
Managing study related material and patient data collection forms..
managing data collection at outpatient pain clinic to ensure effective use of time and coordinate with PI and Research Associate efficiently.
follow and ensure implementation of project protocol and Good Clinical Practice guidelines as defined in the research project.
assist PI in preparing presentations and literature review (if required)
participate in international conference abstracts.
You should have:
a Graduate or post-graduate degree in a health-related field (preferably medical sciences).
at least one year research experience in clinical or pharmaceutical sciences
basic research and good interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills
good command over the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office
resilience and ability to cope-up with work pressure and meet stringent timelines.
