The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational units: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.
A study to understand access to health-care for the people residing in slum areas and are known to have worse health indicators than those living in rural areas is being conducted. The aim of this study is to understand current health delivery patterns and health seeking behavior in urban slums in Karachi and suggest cost-effective models of care in these areas.
This is a short-term grant-funded contractual position for a period of four months.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
identifying and building rapport among social activists, local groups, organization and institutions and their key personnel in the assigned areas
supervising operational field activities and implementing planned strategies
maintaining documentation of the field activities on a regular basis
keeping record of all equipment and ensure timely maintenance
assisting in collection, editing, cleaning, entry and analysis of data
resolving day to day operational issues.
Requirements:
You should have:
A Masters degree in sociology or any other related field
atleast five years of relevant experience preferably in field setting
good computer literacy excellent command over Microsoft Excel.
excellent communication skills
ability to handle office correspondence independently
good command over written and spoken English and Urdu language
a thorough understanding of administrative processes and ability to liaise with other offices at the university.
