The Cancer Care Service Line at the Aga Khan University Hospital consists of a specialised team of certified, highly trained and experienced oncologists, radiation oncologists, haematologists, surgeons, nurses and technicians who treat specific adult and child cancers and haematological disorders.
The Service Line provides comprehensive cancer care services under one roof. There are, among many other services, a bone marrow transplant unit, a top of the line radiation oncology center with high tech LINACs , brachytherapy, total body irradiation and total Skin Electron Beam Therapy, a PET-CT with dedicated cyclotron, a day care center and an inpatient facility as well. Outpatient facilities include clinics of Medical Oncology, Haematology, Paediatric Oncology and Radiation Oncology. Palliative care is part of the scope of the Service Line in close cooperation with the Home Health Service of AKUH.
Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Assistant Head Nurse, Cancer Care Service Line.
Responsibilities:
You will be assigned in the New Private Wing to lead the team and will be accountable to ensure that patient care is delivered as per the set nursing standards.You will be responsible to:
perform day-to-day management of the in-patient area
teach and mentor new staff of the area
ensure that quality care is delivered to patients
ensure to maintain staff and patient satisfaction
meet consultants frequently to discuss patient care related issues
coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance quality of patient care
assess patient care and acuity trends, plan and manage unit and staffing, and ensure availability of supplies, equipment and other resources
take some of service line/unit management task as per supervisors discretion.
develop staff duty roster, checking of special assignments etc
demonstrate initiatives to review concepts of Quality Improvement in Nursing Practice (QINP).
Requirements:
You should have:
a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited school
minimum three years of nursing experience
minimum two years of Oncology experience.
valid license from Pakistan Nursing Council
certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), PALS Certification, Safe Medication Administration, Aseptic Techniques, I/V Cannulation, Tool Training and Facilitation Course
Cytotoxic handling certificate, Central Line Handling certificate
excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills
willingness to work in shift duties & weekends.
