Job Description

Reports To: Project CEO of TSA
Job Summary/Purpose
Lead development of school plans and procedures for instruction, students social/emotional needs, safety, building procedures, and other special education related needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Implement school-wide initiatives in special education
2. Ensure the vision for the school is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all
3. Encourage creativity, innovation and the use of appropriate new technologies to achieve excellence
4. Maintain fidelity to organizational methodology and standards
5. Create an ethos and provide educational vision and direction which secures effective teaching, successful learning and achievement by students and sustained improvement in their spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life
6. Work on improving academic and behavioral achievement and support the overall learning environment
7. Lead the school by building high performing teams and responsibly manage work and people while enlisting others in the school vision
8. Ensure that all those involved in the school are committed to its aims, motivated to achieve them and involved in meeting long, medium and short-term objectives and targets which secure the educational success of the school
9. Promote the success of students by creating an instructional program that continually strives to improve teaching and learning
10. Create and maintain a school environment that focuses on students and emphasizes high academic expectations, a personal approach, caring, discipline, and order
11. Encourage professional development and effectively supervise teachers and staff in order to improve student learning and academic achievement
12. Confer with students, parents, and staff to resolve issues and problems
13. Ensure that the management, finance, organization and administration of the school support its vision and aims
14. Promote a successful learning culture raising the quality of learning and teaching and celebrating student achievement
15. Develop a successful learning community through effective relationships and communications
16. Provide effective organization and management of the school seeking improved organizational structures and functions based on rigorous self-evaluation
17. Engage successfully with the internal and external community to secure equity and entitlement
18. Commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment
19. Collaborate with all in an unbiased and non-prejudiced manner in order to promote a healthy school culture
20. Conduct a review of the curriculum being taught on an on-going basis in order to guarantee up-to-date information being shared with students
The Principal will ensure that staff:
1. Listen, question and respond to what is being communicated by children, young people and those caring for them
2. Demonstrate knowledge of the physical, intellectual, linguistic, social and emotional growth and development of babies, children and young people
3. Recognize when a child or young person may not be achieving their developmental potential or their health may be impaired and be able to identify sources of help for them and their families
4. Understand the impact on a young person of transitions they may be going through
5. Work successfully on a multi-agency basis and to be clear about the role of the principal and the roles of other professionals
6. Adopt the right approach to information sharing by following the correct procedures and by ensuring that the child or young person, parent or carer understands the process
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
18 years education with 6 years relevant work experience
Masters in education preferably in special education or/and a MS in clinical psychology.
Degree/diploma/training in special education at least
Excellent command of English language
Experience of working in some management position in a school will be preferred
Excellent organization, time management, and follow-up skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively in English
Ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently
