The Commercialization Manager would be working to implement the ORIC goals, achieving objectives and deliverables in line with the broader University strategy. The position is required to showcase the technologies and intellectual property developed at FCCU and to build linkages with the industry and all other stake-holders. This includes identifying research to be licensed and providing expert advice on commercialization to FCCUs researchers. This will include a strong liaison with the Business Incubation Centre being established at FCCU. The role also includes soliciting external funding for the ongoing research activities at FCCU.
Position requirements:
Minimum Education and Experience:
16 years equivalent education with 8 years relevant work experience
18 years equivalent education with 6 years relevant experience
Skills:
Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to develop a network, identify market needs.
Good knowledge of Commercialization, Technology Incubation would be preferred.
Experience of Stakeholder management with the proven ability of marketing and winning support for new ideas.
Proactive and ability to work according to a strategic direction.
Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):
Promote the development of University- Industry partnerships in support of university Research. He/She would be developing networking databases for this purpose.
Clear Innovation and International strategies would be developed which are easily translated into implementation plans.
Link the university's research community with the needs and priorities of the corporate sector.
Develop opportunities for the commercialization of university research.
Facilitate entrepreneurship activities.
Develop working environment that supports entrepreneurs.
Tap on research funding agencies, both national and international.
Develop a mechanism for marketing Research solutions to industry.
