The Information Technology Services office at Forman Christian College has an opening for the position of Database & Software Application Officer. This is a position with the FCC ERP Team and emoluments are in keeping with market compensations for the position.
The person will install, upgrade and update patches, resolve application conflicts, and upgrade the client-side application, import-export database schemas; write complex queries and perform SQL tuning and database performance tuning, customized reporting; maintain and update ERDs with application releases and data dictionaries, documenting the software projects, troubleshooting database-related issues, deploying database changes to staging environments, and production environments.
Responsibilities:
Providing client support to various stakeholders, students, and staff
Research technologies according to the assigned task
Data migration and data loads, often from internal sources, assist the application team in updating new releases on servers.
Maintain, backup/restore, and monitor all Microsoft SQL Server 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012, and 2016 environments.
Assist application team with software, and configuration requirements.
Regular application database back-up & archiving, update SQL patches.
Provide input to the development of business cases when enterprise-wide database solutions are proposed.
Assist the application team with application-level SQL query design to ensure efficient performance within the SQL database and optimum query writing in report builders.
Assist in managing the on-site backup and recovery process.
Assist in performing any required database upgrades and migration.
Assist team with installation of third-party server applications as needed.
Installations of the client application on campus for the department users; resolve conflicts and configure the plugins on the workstation of individuals.
Create documentation for the software projects, elicit requirements clearly for departments, develop/assist requirements (functional & non-functional), prioritizing requirements, identifying constraints, create (low level) use-cases, process flows and exception flows, collaboration diagrams (UML), and DFD's.
Develop test cases and assist UAT (User-Acceptance-Testings)
This job may require evening and weekend work in response to the workload.
Skills:
Oracle - 11g, 12c; SQL Server.
Unix platforms, Windows, and.NET platforms
Preferred: PL/SQL; Crystal Reports, Oracle report builder
Preferred: Knowledge of application development environment and modern web technologies.
Preferred: Java, .NET, MySQL, PHP
Problem-solving, complaint handling, and interpersonal skills
Minimum Education and Experience:
14 years equivalent education with 5 years of relevant work experience
16 years equivalent education with 2 years of relevant work experience
18 years equivalent education with preferably some relevant experience
