Responsibilities:
Job Summary
AKU-IHD is seeking to recruit field enumerators to carry out a study on Assessing and Supporting Mental Health Outcomes among Adolescents aged 13-19 in Kenya(Nairobi, Kilifi and Mombasa Counties) and Uganda(Kampala) in the Context of COVID-19.The study will have three phases; The formative phase will consist of four components; cross-sectional study to quantify the burden of mental health among adolescents followed by an exploratory qualitative study to explore drivers of mental health among adolescents in Kenya and Uganda. Phase two(design phase) of the study will be about designing a culturally appropriate and contextually relevant adolescent mental health intervention based on the results of the quantitative study, qualitative study, the scoping review and expert opinion(including CSOs). In the third phase (implementation phase), we will support and evaluate the implementation of an adolescent mental health intervention developed in phase two and implemented by identified CSOs in the second phase.
The field enumerator will be required to:
Attend a training workshop to plan for research activities and familiarize with data collection, consenting tools and protocols
Assist in logistical preparation for consenting and baseline data collection
Facilitate invitation of study participants in collaboration with community guidelines
Assist in consenting study participants
Collect and submit data collected daily through mobile application (ODK)
Assist in referring distressed participants to the counsellor in collaboration with RO
Observe all laid down protocols to prevent and contain COVID-19 pandemic

Requirements:
Must have Diploma in Counselling, Psychology or Certificate in Counselling
Should have 2 years working experience
Should have proficiency in the use of smart phone/tablet to collect data
Should be familiar with research ethics and experience in taking informed consent
Should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Should be able to work within tight schedules
Experience working with health care workers is an added advantage
