The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognised regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.
Responsibilities:
Being a member of the Epidemiology & Biostatistics Section, you will be responsible for:
teaching and facilitating undergraduate Curriculum Sessions for CHS and problem-based learning as well as other educational programmes such as Masters Programme and Continuing Education Programme
delivering lectures and conducting tutorials for graduate students, mainly for the EB programme.
providing assistance and subsequently supervising students in developing scientific proposals and in their thesis work
preparing exam questions, participating in the review of these questions, and participating in students performance evaluation process and participating in Curricular Renewal exercise
conforming to University's policies and established performance norms for evaluation of students/ course participants
actively engaging in research, with special emphasis on Epidemiology and allied research domains, learning advance data analysis skills, and writing small grants to generate funds from multiple granting agencies
participating in research studies and writing articles on assigned projects, under the supervision of senior faculty, and pursuing publication for professional journals
conducting and participating in assigned meetings and committees, primarily at divisional / departmental level
participating in continuing professional development programmes and engaging in professional development activities to keep updated on current practices and trends in education development.
Requirements:
You should have:
an MBBS, BScN or other health professional degree with a relevant two years Masters degree or equivalent (e.g. MPH/EpiBio).
at least two to three years teaching and research experience. Priority will be given to candidates with good command over quantitative and computing related subjects.
demonstrated professional accomplishment and evidence of publications and successful performance in grant writing, and scientific/public health research & development
well versed with current research methodologies and protocol development
good teaching skills and knowledge of new teaching methodologies and practices
ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written, demonstrating good academic writing skills
language proficiency in English and Urdu; ability to communicate in other local/regional languages would be an advantage
proficiency in use of related computer software packages
good conceptual and analytical skills for managing public health data. Knowing scientific programming would be an advantage.
capability for curriculum planning and organizing skills for research administration.
good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
committed to learning, growth, and self-development.
