The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational units: Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Population & Reproductive Health, Environmental Health, and Non-Communicable Diseases & Mental Health.
MultiTex RCT Multifaceted intervention package for protection against cotton dust exposure among textile workers a cluster randomized controlled trial aims to determine the effectiveness of an occupational health intervention to reduce cotton dust levels in textile mills and improving the respiratory health of workers. This research project is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is being implemented in collaboration with the Imperial College London.
This is a grant funded position for a period of one year.
You will be responsible for:
planning and conducting occupational health trainings in textile mills
preparing brief notes and documentation for each training session
conducting statistical analysis on relevant datasets
preparing project reports and assisting the team in project write-ups
assisting the team in conducting dust measurements at textile mills and maintaining the datasets.
You should have:
Masters in Public Health or equivalent degree preferably with an MBBS degree from an HEC recognized or reputable foreign university/institution
minimum 1-2 years of Public Health or field experience for community-based work. Experience in Occupational Health would be an added advantage
enthusiasm for working in a field setting
ability to deal with challenging situations during field work
good command of written and spoken English and Urdu
good communication skills
capability of working in a multidisciplinary team
the ability to independently conduct statistical analyses
excellent scientific writing skills.
