The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.
The Population and Reproductive Health section of Community Health Sciences is conducting a research in both urban and rural areas, which is a flagship research collaboration with the Global Network for Women and Children's Health Research. This is a prospective, population-based active surveillance and maintenance of pregnancies in the Global Network Research site in Thatta. The data from the registry/surveillance provide the mortality and morbidity outcomes for Global Network trials and help investigators plan future studies.
This is a short term grant-funded position for a period of six months.
You will be responsible for:
managing overall administration and oversight of all existing research projects along with day-to-day administrative tasks including providing logistical support to the field sites
liaising and coordinating with other departments of the university for process improvement
coordinating with different local and international granting agencies for international purchase and import of study materials, drugs and/or equipment
monitoring, developing and implementing an effective project transport mechanism keeping in mind the monetary aspects
ensuring fixed asset control of the projects
monitoring, evaluating and improving operational procedures of all administrative functions of the Section
leading the grants acquisition for the Population and Reproductive Health Section by corresponding with the granting agencies
ensuring conformity to regulatory compliance of the agencies
tracking and delivering narrative and financial reports after liaising with the concerned entities and operations of research project
organising and managing legal formalities of granting agencies and ensure that those are adequately endorsed
facilitating researchers towards the development of research proposals, finalising contents and procedural formalities
taking initiatives to improve systems related to financial controls and audits while ensuring alignment with the institutional policies and procedures
identifying, selecting and establishing field offices for the various research projects
developing and implementing a more robust and user-friendly Grant Regulatory System (GC, MTAs, CoI forms, pre- and post-award management systems) to ensure greater facilitation
developing, supervising and implementing SOPs for process improvement and enhanced management of different projects
developing and implementing stringent and acceptable internal audit systems for various projects to adhere to various granting agencies' policies
conducting administrative audits at the field sites (outside and within Karachi)
monitoring visits to field sites and offices to ensure adherence to institutional policies and procedures and efficient utilization of available resources.
You should have:
Masters degree in Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent from an HEC recognized or reputable foreign university/institution
at least 10 years of relevant experience including 5 years in a management role preferably in any reputable healthcare or research organisation
experience of coordinating or managing clinical trial or similar health related projects in different settings
excellent interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills
ability to manage time efficiently and prioritise tasks effectively
resilience and ability to cope up with work pressure and meet stringent deadlines
excellent ability to manage diverse teams
willingness to travel frequently.
