Reporting to Senior Manager Procurement, you will be responsible to oversee the operations of the functional area through a team and to review and resolve policy issues of the multiple areas within a Division / Department and make decisions subject to broad practices and procedures

Specifically, you will be:
Responsible of managing procurement activities for Clinical supplies categories include Medical and Surgical consumables.
In Charge of managing acquisition activities of Cap-Ex items, particularly medical and clinical laboratory equipment in the most effective manner.
Building relationships with current and potential traders and suppliers, providing research, analytics and recommendations to the teams, and inducting new suppliers into AKUs business practices.
Responsible to develop and implement integrated methods and system for improving operational efficiency and controlling inventories.
Develop and maintain effective liaison with AKDN health network institutions to help them in purchasing efforts
Liable to ensure compliance of quality management system of materials management division, local and international quality standards.
Responsibility to develop and promote a customer-focused orientation toward materials management, promote a collaborative culture between PSCMD, Nursing, Medical and Ancillary departments.
Provide leadership and problem solving support to peers, direct reports and to customers in a manner that facilitates the building of strong relationships.
Manage the recruitment retention and development of employees in the department/division.
Accountable to develop and review department goals and objectives on a regular basis against said targets and take actions for improvement.
Requirements:
Masters degree in business administration or equivalent qualification in a related area
Professional certification in Supply Management will be an added advantage
Managerial experience of 5 years in all fields of Supply Management including Purchasing, Inventory Management, Logistics and Contract Management.
Demonstrate proven track record in improving efficiency and bringing value additions.
Ability to work with teams to set program/operational goals and plans in keeping with the strategic direction.
Experience of project management, process improvement and budget management is essential.
Sophisticated negotiation skills. Strong knowledge of related industry operating costs, procurement methods, and pricing practices.
Strong knowledge of governmental action in areas affecting the commodities industry, supply and demand fundamentals, and currency valuation dynamics.
Ability to publicly support and adapt to major/fundamental changes that show promise of improving established ways of operating and seeks opportunities for change in order to achieve improvement in work processes, systems, etc.
Ability to seek significant challenges outside of current job scope and work on new projects or assignments that add value without compromising current accountabilities. Able to guides staff to achieve tasks, goals, processes and performance standards.
Ability to initiate collaboration with other groups/ organizations on projects or methods of operating as well as encourages the team to openly discuss what can be done to create a solution or alternative.
Proficiency in written and spoken English, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft/Oracle is desired.
