The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory (IDRL) that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.
The department is conducting a study in two preidentified sites of District East, Karachi for environmental surveillance of COVID-19 from sewage water. It will help to determine presence and quantification of SARS COVID-19 virus in particular area.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
visit the sites of District East, Karachi twice a week for project work
collect and filter raw sewage from site
complete information on tablet by following project specific guidelines
deal with local authorities and/or law enforcement agencies
responsibly handle collected samples and process according to guidelines
responsibly transport collected samples and submit to IDRL according to guidelines
complete daily assigned tasks and targets
any other responsibility assigned by the research supervisor.
Requirements:
You should have:
Matriculation
preferably one year of relevant experience
basic research, interpersonal and communication skills
good command over the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office
resilience and ability to cope-up with work pressure and meet stringent timelines.
